TBAL Hits 400th Apache Fuselage Milestone with Hyderabad Facility
Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL) has reached a significant milestone in its production of Apache attack helicopter fuselages. The company, a joint venture between Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), has delivered its 400th fuselage from its Hyderabad facility. This achievement highlights India's growing aerospace and defense manufacturing capabilities.
The Hyderabad facility spans 52,000 square meters and produces critical structures for Apache helicopters supplied to defense customers worldwide. TBAL's production of the main fuselage structures for AH-64E Apache helicopters is integrated into complete aircraft and delivered globally, including to the US Army and the Indian Army. The Indian Air Force operates a fleet of 22 AH-64E Apache helicopters.
The pace of production has accelerated significantly, with TBAL reaching its 300th fuselage milestone in February 2025 and completing another 100 fuselages in just 18 months. This achievement underscores the expanding role of Indian manufacturing in the global supply chain of one of the world's most widely deployed attack helicopter platforms.
The US Embassy in India highlighted the significance of this milestone, stating that it represented a major achievement for Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems and reflected the continuing US-India defense partnership. The production facility uses robotics, automated tooling, and advanced aerospace production techniques to manufacture precision components. Over 750 engineers and technicians work at the facility.
