Teams Blocks External Bots to Protect Sensitive Meetings
Microsoft is strengthening security and privacy controls in Teams by introducing a new meeting protection policy that blocks detected external bots from entering meetings.
The policy, which will be enabled by default, builds on existing bot-detection capabilities that identify suspected third-party meeting assistants and hold them in the lobby until an organizer approves their admission.
With the new policy, detected external bots will be automatically blocked, eliminating the risk of human error or confusion allowing unauthorized access to sensitive discussions.
The change is particularly relevant for organizations handling confidential information, regulated data, or intellectual property.
