Teams Gets Enhanced Threat Detection with New Security Report
Microsoft is introducing a new Security Detection Report in Teams to help administrators monitor messaging-based threats more effectively. The report brings together previously scattered threat signals into a single dashboard, making it easier for security teams to identify and respond to malicious activity within the platform.
The feature consolidates three critical categories of messaging threats: impersonation attempts, malicious URLs, and weaponizable file types. Each entry in the report includes context such as sender and recipient information, detection type, and thread identifiers, allowing investigators to act quickly on suspicious conversations.
Additionally, the report supports exportable data, enabling admins to download chart-level summaries and full table records as CSV files for use in broader security information and event management (SIEM) workflows or compliance reviews.
Microsoft's rollout timeline has shifted several times, with general availability expected in late August 2026 and a global rollout completion by early September 2026. The repeated revisions suggest the company is refining the detection logic and reporting infrastructure to ensure its accuracy and effectiveness.
