Teams Rooms Stuck in the Stone Age: Time for a Wireless Evolution
Microsoft Teams Rooms need to evolve beyond their current limitations, according to industry experts. With hybrid work becoming the norm, employees expect a seamless experience whether they're in the office or working remotely. However, many meeting rooms still rely on outdated technology and cables, causing frustration for both in-room participants and remote attendees.
Neil Fluester, Senior Product Marketing at Logitech for Business, notes that organisations need to 'earn the commute' by providing an experience that's as good as or better than what employees have at home. This means upgrading meeting rooms with modern technology that can match the quality of remote setups.
The problem is compounded by the fragmented estate issue, where different meeting rooms behave differently and require varying steps to start a call. To address this, many IT directors are turning to Microsoft Teams certification, which ensures devices appear in the Teams admin centre, receive updates centrally, and can be managed across an estate from a single place.
Gauthier Renard, Group Product Manager for Barco ClickShare, highlights the value of certification: 'Certified for Teams means you are in the ecosystem. Your devices show up in the pro management portal, they receive updates, they can be managed.' He also dispels the myth that certified MTR hardware is locked-down and inflexible.
