William DeNeale Fister Jr., an 81-year-old man from Shelbyville, Tennessee, passed away on August 22, 2026. His life was marked by numerous moves across different countries and states, including San José, Costa Rica; Managua, Nicaragua; Charlottesville, Virginia; Silverdale, Washington; Miami, Florida; and finally, Shelbyville, Tennessee.

Fister attended Fishburne Military School in Virginia as a young man. He owned the Ostuma Inn in Costa Rica and worked with IDS American Express and Step One Financial Recovery throughout his professional life.

For 56 years, Fister was married to Irene Fister, who was at the center of his world. He had five children and 20 grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. His family described him as a man with a strong personality and strong opinions, but also someone whose intentions came from a place of love.

Fister enjoyed traveling, fishing, and planning meals for his family. He was particularly fond of discussing world history and politics and could spend hours watching Fox News and following current events.
