Tensor G6 Stuns with 3nm Process, Not 2nm as Expected

Google's Tensor G6 processor in its latest Pixel 11 series smartphones has been revealed to be based on TSMC's 3nm process, not the previously believed 2nm process.

The confirmation came from Google's VP of Hardware, Peng Yu-Chun, who stated that the Tensor G6 delivers 50% more TPU compute and an upgraded CPU compute with up to 30% better power efficiency compared to its predecessor, the Tensor G5.

While some may have been expecting a 2nm processor in the Pixel 11 series, Samsung's Exynos 2600 announced last December still holds the title of being the first 2nm mobile chip. However, Google's Tensor G6 does offer notable upgrades that could improve the real-world performance of the new smartphones.
