Ternus Set for $58M Pay Package as Apple's New Chief
Apple's new CEO John Ternus will receive an impressive compensation package worth around $58 million in fiscal year 2027. This includes a base salary of $3 million and a stock award with a target value of $55 million, according to reports.
Ternus' equity award is tied to Apple's performance relative to the S&P 500, with about 75% of it linked to this metric. The remaining 25% consists of time-based stock units that vest semiannually.
Outgoing CEO Tim Cook will receive a significantly lower compensation package in his new role as executive chairman, with an annual salary of $2 million and a target value of $45 million for his 2027 stock award. This is a reduction from the $3 million salary he received during his tenure as CEO.
Cook's total compensation as Apple CEO in 2025 was $74.3 million, reflecting the company's remarkable growth under his leadership. During Cook's 15-year tenure, Apple expanded into new product categories and saw its annual revenue increase to nearly $500 billion, with shares rising over 2,200%.
