Ternus Takes Apple Helm with $58M Compensation Package
Apple's new CEO, John Ternus, has begun his tenure with a compensation package worth $58M for fiscal year 2027. This includes a base salary of $3M and equity awards valued at $55M.
The performance-based component of the equity award accounts for 75% of the total, linked to Apple's shareholder returns relative to S&P 500 companies. The remaining 25% is subject to a time-vested schedule over four years.
Former CEO Tim Cook has transitioned to an executive chairman role with a compensation package worth $47M, down from his previous $74.3M as CEO. His base salary decreased from $3M to $2M annually.
Ternus will face his first major challenge on September 9, when Apple plans to unveil its iPhone 18 series, among other products.
