Apple Inc. has entered a new era under John Ternus, who took over as CEO on Tuesday.

Ternus succeeds Tim Cook, who moved into the executive chairman role after leading Apple for 15 years.

Cook's tenure saw Apple's market value grow from below $350 billion in 2011 to approximately $4.6 trillion today, with shares rising 2,258% or 2,716% including dividends during that time.

SWBC Chief Investment Officer Chris Brigati told Bloomberg that Cook expanded Apple's growth engines through a different approach from Steve Jobs, but ideally Ternus will combine Cook's steady leadership with the product innovation associated with Jobs.
