Ternus Takes the Helm as Apple CEO with $58M Compensation Package
Apple's leadership transition is complete, and John Ternus has taken over as CEO from Tim Cook. The company has disclosed the compensation packages for both men, with Ternus set to receive a target of $58 million in fiscal 2027.
Ternus' package includes an annual salary of $3 million and a targeted stock award worth $55 million. He will also receive a prorated restricted stock unit (RSU) award valued at around $2.5 million for fiscal 2026.
The equity component of Ternus' compensation is tied to Apple's performance, with three-quarters of his fiscal 2027 stock grant dependent on the company's total shareholder return relative to the S&P 500.
Cook, now executive chairman, will receive a package worth around $47 million, consisting of a $2 million salary and targeted stock awards valued at $45 million. Half of Cook's equity grant is performance-based, while the other half vests over four years.
