Ternus Takes the Helm at Apple Amid AI Challenges
Apple's stock price surged by 2.6% on Tuesday as John Ternus officially took over as CEO, succeeding Tim Cook.
Ternus has been with Apple since 2001 and most recently served as senior vice president of hardware engineering. He played a crucial role in the development of several key products, including the iPad, Mac, AirPods, and Apple Vision Pro.
Cook, who became CEO in August 2011, stepped down to take on the role of executive chairman on September 1. During his nearly 15-year tenure, Cook oversaw Apple's expansion from a $350 billion company to over $4.5 trillion technology giant, significantly increasing its services business and global supply-chain capabilities.
The transition comes as Apple faces challenges in artificial intelligence (AI), with investors expecting Ternus to accelerate the company's AI strategy while maintaining its strong product ecosystem.
