Ternus Takes the Reins: Apple's New CEO Prepares for High-Stakes Launch
Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) new CEO, John Ternus, takes over on Tuesday after spending 25 years working on hardware engineering operations. Tim Cook will step down as CEO and remain as executive chairman, continuing to assist with sensitive relationships.
Cook's departure mirrors Jeff Bezos' transition at Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN), where Bezos remained executive chairman while Andy Jassy took over day-to-day operations.
Ternus has extensive experience overseeing Apple products, but as CEO, he will need to navigate other departments and rely on executives like COO Sabih Khan, CFO Kevan Parekh, and services chief Eddy Cue.
Apple is preparing to launch its first major product under Ternus on September 9, which is expected to include the iPhone 18 series and a foldable iPhone.
