Ternus Takes the Reins at Apple Amid High Expectations
Apple's incoming CEO John Ternus is set to take over the lead role on September 1, 2026. He has a product design background and experience dating back to the Steve Jobs era. Ternus will be succeeding Tim Cook, who managed a 2,230% return since becoming CEO in August 2011.
Cook's tenure saw Apple grow from $108 billion in revenue in fiscal 2011 to more than $466 billion on a trailing-12-month basis. The company's market cap increased from $338 billion to $4.5 trillion, making it the second-most valuable company in the world as measured by market capitalization.
Ternus has led Apple's hardware engineering team since 2013 and has been instrumental in expanding the company's product lineup. He has also signaled his commitment to shipping only the best possible products and services.
