Ternus Takes the Reins at Apple Amid Historically Challenging September
John Ternus will take over as CEO of Apple on September 1, replacing Tim Cook who took the reins in 2011. Since then, Apple's shares have skyrocketed by an incredible 2,240%.
The company's market capitalization has exploded from $349 billion to a staggering $4.6 trillion. Ternus has been senior vice president of hardware engineering since 2021 and is well-positioned for the top job.
Apple is entering one of its worst months historically, with the S&P 500 index averaging a negative 1.3% return in September over the past decade.
However, long-term investors should remain unfazed by this trend, as a single month's performance will have little impact on their portfolios. Ternus has been with Apple since 2001 and is deeply familiar with the company's operations.
