Apple Inc.'s stock has been on an upward trend this month, gaining 3.6% as John Ternus prepares to take over as CEO from Tim Cook on September 1.

Ternus will face several challenges in his new role, including the fall product launch and AI ambitions. The company's first test under Ternus' leadership will come on September 9 with the iPhone launch featuring a foldable iPhone.

The device is part of Apple's broader product roadmap that Ternus helped oversee as hardware chief. However, Apple has struggled to develop its own AI models and is now using Google's Gemini technology as the foundation for Siri.

Ternus will need to make the new system useful enough to overcome Siri's poor reputation while finding a way to eventually monetize the costly AI service.
