Tesla Risks Falling Behind in Self-Driving Race, Warns Investor Gary Black
Investor Gary Black of The Future Fund LLC is warning that Tesla may fall behind in the self-driving race. According to him, competitors like Alphabet's Waymo and Baidu's Apollo Go are completing over a million paid unsupervised autonomous rides per week.
In a post on X, Black pointed out that Tesla's year-to-date performance has been crushed by negative earnings revisions. He noted that the company's 2028 estimates have decreased by 5% in just one month and 28% in the past year.
Black emphasized that unsupervised autonomy is becoming a necessary component for competing in the global automotive business, citing investments made by Nvidia and other companies.
