Texas Lures Wall Street Giants with Pro-Business Climate
The financial industry is experiencing rapid growth in Texas, with Goldman Sachs building an 800,000-square-foot campus in Dallas that will employ over 5,000 workers. This move follows the trend of top banks like JPMorgan Chase and Morgan Stanley establishing a presence in the state.
Texas' business-friendly climate, lower taxes, and lighter regulations have made it an attractive destination for companies looking to relocate from states with more liberal policies. The state's population is also growing rapidly, making it an ideal location for financial institutions to tap into a large potential client base.
Goldman Sachs partner Aasem Khalil attributes the company's success in Texas to the city's welcoming culture and business climate. Khalil, a lifelong New Yorker who moved to Dallas a decade ago, praises the state's ability to support businesses and create jobs.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson has also been promoting Texas as a 'pro-business' refuge from states with more liberal leaders and policies. Johnson explicitly called out California and New York in an interview, stating that Texas is a sanctuary city from socialism.
