Tezspire Shows Promise in Phase 3 Eosinophilic Esophagitis Trial

Amgen and AstraZeneca have reported positive results from a Phase 3 trial evaluating Tezspire for treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis. The CROSSING trial met its co-primary endpoints at week 24, measuring histologic remission and dysphagia symptom improvement, with results sustained through week 52.

The trial enrolled 368 patients aged 12-80 years with symptomatic and histologically active eosinophilic esophagitis who were randomized to receive either low or high dose Tezspire or placebo subcutaneously every four weeks. Histologic remission was defined as a peak esophageal eosinophil count of six or fewer eosinophils per high-power field.

The safety profile was consistent with Tezspire's approved indications for severe asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. The companies plan to present full trial results at an upcoming medical meeting and share them with regulatory authorities.
