TfL Fines Driver £90 Despite Payment for Ulez Charge
A man from Fleet, Hampshire, was fined £90 by Transport for London (TfL) despite paying the £12.50 London Ulez charge on time.
The charge was paid using an American Express card within hours of driving through the zone, but TfL had failed to collect the money.
The man, who is in his 80s and needs a car for hospital appointments, received a letter from TfL threatening a £180 fine, rising to £360, and possible destruction of his car if he did not pay.
He submitted evidence of payment, including a screenshot from his banking app and a letter from American Express, but TfL ignored it.
