Thai Airways Flight Returns to Frankfurt After Hydraulic Failure
A Thai Airways Boeing 777 flight from Frankfurt to Bangkok was forced to declare an emergency and return to the German airport after experiencing a hydraulic failure shortly after takeoff.
The aircraft, registration HS-TKK, took off at 14:45 local time but encountered issues when its left main landing gear failed to retract. The pilots quickly responded by leveling off and halting their climb at 13,000 feet before declaring an emergency with air traffic control.
The crew entered a holding pattern near Frankfurt to dump fuel and reduce the aircraft's weight to a safe limit for landing. After approximately 25 minutes in this holding pattern, the crew completed the fuel dump and lined up for a successful approach, landing safely on runway 25C about an hour and 20 minutes after departure.
No injuries were reported among passengers or crew, but Thai Airways has not yet released a statement regarding maintenance timelines for aircraft HS-TKK or revised travel arrangements for affected passengers. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of regular aircraft maintenance to ensure passenger safety.
