Thailand Slashes Visa-Free Stay for Tourists to 30 Days
Thailand has tightened its tourist entry regime by reducing the maximum visa-free stay for tourists from 60 days to 30 days. The new rule, which takes effect on September 15, applies to visitors from 60 countries, including India.
Under the revised rules, Indian passport holders can still enter Thailand without obtaining a visa for tourism, but they will be allowed to stay only for 30 days. Travellers who want to remain in Thailand for longer will have to consider an appropriate visa or other permitted immigration route.
The new rule is aimed at tightening the relaxation that has made Thailand a popular travel destination. The change is unlikely to affect short-term tourists, but it may impact those planning extended holidays, workations, or trips covering several Thai destinations.
