The Hobbit Booster Boxes Get Price Cut on Launch Day
Magic: The Gathering's latest set, The Hobbit, has arrived on launch day, bringing with it a new price cut for booster boxes. According to Amazon, the Play Booster Box, which contains 30 packs, is now available for $189.99, down from its original price of $209.70.
This works out to around $6.33 per pack, a decrease from the usual $6.99 per pack. The booster box also comes with a foil box topper featuring a reprint from The Lord of the Rings set, complete with special borderless alternate artwork.
The Hobbit is Magic's second Tolkien crossover set, following 2023's The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth. According to TCGplayer, the most valuable card in the set so far is Gleaming Splendor, an enchantment that creates Treasure tokens whenever players draw their second card of a turn.
The current price for Gleaming Splendor on TCGplayer is around $530, making it a lucrative pull. However, it's worth noting that pre-release and early-market pricing can be volatile, so prices may change rapidly in the coming days.
