The Home Depot Expands AI-Powered Shopping Assistant to All US Locations
The Home Depot has expanded its AI-powered shopping assistant, Magic Apron, to include localized store knowledge in all of its over 2,000 US locations. This feature allows customers to interact with the tool through text, voice-to-text, and image search queries, making it easier for them to find products, navigate stores, and get personalized guidance.
According to The Home Depot, Magic Apron responds to millions of questions every month, providing customers with a more connected shopping experience. The tool gives shoppers a map of their local store, helps them locate products by aisle, and provides information on item availability in their store and other locations.
The Home Depot launched Magic Apron in March 2025 as a suite of generative AI tools designed to respond to customers' questions and refine search results. Since then, the company has continued to develop the tool, including an expanded partnership with Google Cloud announced in January to enable more Magic Apron capabilities.
Executive Vice President Jordan Broggi said that Magic Apron brings digital expertise into physical stores, creating a more connected shopping experience for customers. 'Our associates remain at the center of the shopping experience,' he stated, adding that Magic Apron gives customers another way to access guidance and support while in-store.
