Disney has partnered with TikTok to bring fan-made content to its streaming service. The deal will allow TikTok creators to use Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters in their videos, which can then be showcased on both TikTok and Disney+. This partnership is seen as a win-win for both parties: TikTok gets access to popular franchises, while Disney gains short-form content without having to pay for it.

The Disney Creator Ambassador Program will launch as a pilot in the US and eventually expand to other markets. Creators will have access to assets from hundreds of films and series, but there's no detail yet on how they'll be selected or what controls will be in place to ensure quality and copyright compliance.

Disney says this partnership will open doors for the next generation of creators, but critics worry that it may lead to the replacement of professional animators with unpaid social media influencers. The company has already announced hundreds of layoffs, including at Pixar and Disney Television Entertainment.
