A social media controversy surrounding Dr. Pepper has sparked debate over the authenticity of bottles bearing the brand's name.

TikTok user @mommaof.2boys claimed to be able to identify whether a bottle was 'real' or not by its shape, sparking 3.6 million views and 232,500 likes on her video.

The controversy revolves around three different types of Dr. Pepper bottles produced in partnership with Keurig Dr. Pepper and licensed bottlers Coca-Cola and Pepsi.

Reports from The Takeout and Tasting Table suggest that the type of bottle a store carries depends on where it sources its product, as Coca-Cola and Pepsi hold bottling rights in specific regions.
