Tim Cook Steps Down, Hands Reins to John Ternus as Apple Prepares for Major Product Launch
After 15 years at the helm, Tim Cook has stepped down as CEO of Apple. His final day in office was August 31, 2026.
Cook's emotional farewell on social media expressed his gratitude to the Apple community and announced that his title would change tomorrow to executive chairman of the company's board of directors.
The outgoing CEO has been succeeded by John Ternus, who will take over as the new Apple CEO. At 50 years old, Ternus is the same age Cook was when he took over in 2011 after Steve Jobs' departure.
