Tong Nearly Throws No-Hitter as Mets Sweep Doubleheader

The Syracuse Mets swept their doubleheader against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Saturday at Coca-Cola Park, winning both games by significant margins.

In game one, Jonah Tong nearly pitched a no-hitter, allowing only one hit in eight innings of work. The Mets' offense supported him with four home runs, including two from Mark Vientos. Zack Short and D'Andre Smith also went yard, as Syracuse took the opener 6-0.

In the nightcap, Lehigh Valley jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. However, the Mets responded with five runs in the second and eventually took the lead for good in the seventh on Billy Amick's solo home run. Syracuse held on for an 8-7 victory.
