Tropical Americas Opening Date Uncertain as Disney Quietly Cancels 2027 Plan
Walt Disney World Resort has quietly shelved its original plan to open Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom in 2027. The project, which transforms the former DinoLand U.S.A. into an 11-acre land called Pueblo Esperanza, features two main attractions: Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto and Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent.
Pueblo Esperanza will also include a carousel with hand-carved Disney and Pixar creatures, a Maya-inspired play area, and one of Walt Disney World's largest quick-service restaurants. The Imagineers have researched locations across Central and South America to shape the land, which won't contain any live animals.
Although construction has been moving quickly, with show buildings and steel framing already in place for some attractions, there is currently no clear opening date for Tropical Americas. It's possible that the project has slipped into 2028 territory or may open in phases, with completed areas welcoming guests before all attractions are ready.
