Trump Assures Bangladesh: Boeing Won't Let You Down on $3.7 Billion Aircraft Deal
US President Donald Trump has expressed his appreciation to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for purchasing Boeing aircraft. In a letter dated August 31, 2026, Trump assured Rahman that Boeing 'will not let you down.' The purchase is part of Bangladesh's efforts to expand and modernize its fleet through the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Biman signed a $3.7 billion agreement with Boeing in April for the purchase of 14 aircraft, described as the airline's largest-ever aircraft order. US Ambassador to India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs Sergio Gor stated on August 30 that Bangladesh had committed billions of dollars to purchase additional Boeing aircraft, significantly increasing its initial order.
Trump's letter does not specify the number of additional aircraft or the financial value of the purchase to which he was referring. However, it conveys his confidence in Rahman's leadership and expresses 'warmest regards and love' to the people of Bangladesh, stating they have 'been through much' but will have a 'very bright future.'
