Trump Bars Bombardier from Selling in US Unless It Builds There
US President Donald Trump has imposed new trade restrictions on Canadian private jet manufacturer Bombardier. In a post on Truth Social, he stated that Bombardier would no longer be allowed to sell its planes in the United States unless it started manufacturing there.
'NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES! Their products aren’t good enough!' Trump said.
The move comes amid a growing trade dispute between Washington and Ottawa. Canada is set to introduce counter tariffs against the US on Tuesday, in response to previous US actions.
Bombardier has an American workforce of 3,500, with 2,800 suppliers, factories, and service centers in the country. The company produces wings for its flagship Global 8000 jet in Texas and has a defense division with a factory in Kansas.
Aerospace analyst Richard Aboulafia believes that Trump's action may not have significant impact on Bombardier's business, as most of their private jets use US-made engines from Honeywell Aerospace and GE Aerospace.
