Trump Blasts ExxonMobil and Chevron for 'Too Much' Profit from Iran War
President Donald Trump expressed discontent over the profits made by ExxonMobil and Chevron due to the Iran war, stating that they 'made too much money.' The companies reported a combined $26.5 billion in second-quarter profits, with Chevron's profits increasing by 400% compared to the same period last year and ExxonMobil making more than double their previous profit.
Trump argued that these profits are unsustainable, given the current economic situation. 'Based on a shortage, they're making too much money,' he said. 'I don't like it, and I should be the last one to say because I'm a big free enterprise guy -- nobody bigger.'
The president's comments come as gas prices continue to rise, with average prices reaching nearly $4.10 per gallon this week, according to AAA. Trump called on ExxonMobil and Chevron to reduce retail prices, stating that 'they better cut the retail price, the consumer price'.
