Trump Demands Oil Companies Lower Gas Prices Amid Election Concerns
US President Donald Trump has again called on oil companies to lower gasoline prices for American consumers. In a social media post, he chided Chevron CEO Mike Wirth for not crediting his administration's efforts in helping the oil industry. Trump pointed out that without his administration's efforts, including creating a market in Venezuela, the oil industry and the country would be 'DEAD!'
Higher gas prices are a concern for Trump's Republican Party ahead of November's midterm elections, where they risk losing their House majority and possibly control of the Senate. Global oil prices plunged after Trump called off a planned attack on Iran over the weekend, but pump prices do not necessarily follow suit.
