Trump-Linked Golf Tournament Sparks Major Security Operation in Doonbeg
The Amgen Irish Open golf tournament is set to bring hundreds of Gardaí to Doonbeg, County Clare, for the largest security operation in Ireland this year. The event, taking place from September 9th to 13th at Trump International Golf Links Ireland, will see US President Donald Trump in attendance.
A traffic management plan has been unveiled ahead of the tournament, with no parking allowed in Doonbeg village for the duration of the event. The N67 will be closed off on Friday, September 11th, and residents attempting to access the security cordon will require a Garda pass or ID and utility bill.
Sergeant Edel Burke of Kilrush Garda Station emphasized that entry to the event is strictly through the Park and Ride and shuttle buses, which can be accessed with an event ticket. Residents are advised to turn off their Sat Navs and follow visible messaging signs from the AA at all times.
