Trump-Ordered Name Change Sparks Confusion on Google Maps
Google has updated its maps application to show Lake Ontario as 'Lake America' for users in the United States, following an executive order by President Donald Trump.
The move is part of a trade dispute with Canada, where the lake is actually located. According to Google, the change reflects the US Geographic Names Information System's assigned name for the lake.
However, MapQuest has refused to make the change, leaving users to choose between the two names on their platform.
