Trump Renames Lake Ontario, Sparking Backlash from Canada

US President Donald Trump has ordered that Lake Ontario be renamed 'Lake America' as part of his escalating trade war with Canada. Apple and Google Maps have since updated their apps to reflect this change, displaying 'Lake America' for US users and 'Lake Ontario' for those outside the country.

This move follows a similar attempt last year to rename the Gulf of Mexico the 'Gulf of America', which was also adopted by Apple and Google. However, not all map providers have followed suit, with MapQuest refusing to change the name of Lake Ontario.

MapQuest has seen a surge in downloads recently, topping the charts in both the US and Canada on Apple's App Store. The company has given users the option to rename the lake 'whatever you want' through an online tool.
