Trump Security Operation Hits Limerick and Clare Motorists
Limerick and Clare motorists are advised to plan for their journeys this weekend due to an upcoming security operation. US President Donald Trump is set to visit County Clare on Saturday, September 12th, to attend the Amgen Irish Open at his Doonbeg golf resort.
Rolling road closures will be implemented on key routes connecting Shannon and West Clare, impacting thousands of drivers in the region. Motorists should expect delays on the M18, N18, N19, N85, N68, and N67 roads, as well as approach corridors passing through Ennis and Limerick city.
For air travelers from Limerick heading to Shannon Airport, normal operations will continue, but extra travel time is recommended. Gardaí will conduct additional security checks on airport approach roads and in car parks from Friday to Sunday, requiring valid photo ID and flight documentation for entry.
