Trump Set for September Visit to Ireland Amid Golf Tournament and Dublin Meetings
US President Donald Trump is set to visit Ireland next month for a trip that will include attending the Amgen Irish Open golf tournament at his Trump International Links course in Doonbeg, Clare. The prestigious DPWT event is scheduled to take place from September 10 to 13.
The visit will also involve events in Dublin, with a meeting with Taoiseach Micheal Martin likely to be part of the schedule, according to RTE. However, it's considered unlikely that Trump will address the Dáil or Seanad or attend events at Leinster House due to the TDs and senators being on summer break until September 16.
The visit is expected to involve a major security operation due to the likelihood of protests. The trip has been flagged for months, with Clare course managing director Joe Russell confirming earlier this year that Trump would attend the Irish Open. Several high-profile golfers are set to compete at the event, including Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry.
