US President Donald Trump is set to use the Boeing 747-8 aircraft donated by Qatar for an overseas trip next week, according to ABC News. The plane was originally provided by Qatar and modified for presidential use before being transferred to the US Air Force.
The aircraft's security became a focus in July when Trump departed Turkey aboard the older Air Force One rather than the Qatari-gifted plane. The Secret Service had recommended the older plane due to differences in security capabilities, but no specific threat was attributed.
Trump has publicly defended the arrangement, describing the aircraft as a gift to the Department of Defense rather than a personal gift.
