Trump Showcases Gold-Plated Phones in the Oval Office
President Donald Trump recently showcased two gold-embellished Cisco landline phones in his Oval Office, which has been criticized by some as an extravagant addition. The phones feature a gold-colored presidential emblem and a sketch of the White House on each device. They also have buttons with gold-colored font displaying 'The President', '45', '47', and 'Donald J. Trump'.
The phones were likely added to the Resolute Desk sometime between July 13 and July 24, as per an analysis of images taken in the Oval Office over recent months. Older phones appear in a video shared by White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino on July 21 that shows off Trump's golden Oval Office makeover.
Critics have swiftly slammed the president over the new phones on social media, with MS NOW's Molly Jong-Fast stating, 'Our taxes are being spent on the dumbest stuff.' Others joked that 'Liberace called. He wants his landline back' and declared 'This is what peak sycophancy looks like.'
