Trump Slams Chevron CEO for Failing to Acknowledge Administration's Role in Oil Industry's Success
US President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to express his frustration with Chevron CEO Mike Wirth, criticizing him for not giving credit to the Trump administration's role in the oil industry's current success.
In a post on Monday (local time), Trump argued that Chevron and other US energy companies owe their recent gains and continued existence to the 'genius, foresight, strength, and stability' of his presidency.
Chevron's operations in Venezuela were severely restricted under the Trump administration's tightened sanctions against President Nicolas Maduro's regime in 2020. However, the company has since returned to Venezuela with a renewed presence and is set to make a 'fortune', according to Trump.
Trump demanded that major oil companies drop retail fuel prices immediately, citing the impact of the Iran war on energy markets. Chevron CEO Mike Wirth had previously highlighted risks to oil transit routes and warned of expanding challenges in the industry.
