Trump Slams Oil CEOs for High Gas Prices, Demands Immediate Action
US President Donald Trump has called on oil companies to lower gasoline prices for American consumers. In a recent post on his Truth Social platform, Trump chided Chevron CEO Mike Wirth for not crediting his administration's efforts in helping the oil industry.
Trump took issue with Wirth's comments made on Fox News program 'Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo', where he failed to mention the administration's role in the oil industry's growth. Trump stated that without the administration's support, the oil industry would be dead, citing Chevron's return to Venezuela as an example.
The US oil companies have been benefiting from higher crude prices and refining margins since the Iran war began in February. Despite global oil prices plummeting after Trump called off a planned attack on Iran, gas prices at the pump remain high, posing a political risk ahead of November's midterm elections.
