Trump's $400M Qatari Jet May Not End Up at His Presidential Library

President Donald Trump's plan to display a $400 million Boeing Co. (NYSE:BA) jet donated by Qatar at his presidential library has reportedly changed. The aircraft, which was upgraded with costly modifications, may not be transferred to the planned Miami library as initially intended. A White House official told The New York Times that no final decision has been made on the future of the Qatari aircraft.

The report notes that Trump had considered keeping one of the two older Air Force One jets at his library while also accepting the Qatari aircraft. However, it remains unclear whether this plan is still being pursued. An Air Force official stated that no decision has been made on the future of the Qatari aircraft.

The White House and Justice Department previously concluded in a memo that accepting the gift was legal, with the option to transfer the plane to Trump's presidential library later. The last time an official Air Force One aircraft was retired, it was donated to the Reagan Presidential Library in 2001, following a similar precedent set by former President Ronald Reagan.
