Trump's Irish Golf Visit Adds Complexity to County Clare Court Proceedings

US President Donald Trump's upcoming visit to Ireland has added complexity to court proceedings in County Clare, according to Limerick District Court Judge Patricia Harney. The judge made this remark on Tuesday while presiding over a case where staff were struggling to schedule a hearing due to garda unavailability. Prosecuting Sergeant Aishling O'Neill explained that the expected visit of President Trump has resulted in garda leave being cancelled, making it difficult for them to attend court proceedings. This is because his visit has been declared an extraordinary event, and enough members of the force need to be available for a one-night stay at the Amgen Irish Open on September 12.

The US President's appearance in Clare is expected to take place at his Trump International Golf Links & Hotel, Doonbeg. However, there has been no official confirmation from White House staff. The comment by Judge Harney follows months of major delays within Limerick District Court due to the ongoing legal aid dispute between criminal defence solicitors and the Department of Justice.
