Trump's Irish Golf Visit Marred by Protests
US President Donald Trump visited the Amgen Irish Open Golf Championship at the Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg, Co. Clare on September 13th, 2026. The visit was met with mixed feelings from residents of the village, who had to navigate anti-Trump protests in the area.
Local resident Michael Neenan said that he wished the protests weren't there, stating 'I wish the protests weren’t here. We’d have enjoyed the golf better.'
The protests took place on the village's main street, near Neenan's house. While some residents may have been bothered by the disruption, others were not affected.
