Trump's Surgeon General Nominee Agrees to Divest Tobacco and Beverage Holdings

Dr. Nicole Saphier, President Donald Trump's nominee for Surgeon General, has disclosed investments in various companies, including tobacco and beverage makers. She agreed to divest from most of these holdings if confirmed for the role.

The list includes Philip Morris International Inc. (NYSE:PM), Altria Group Inc. (NYSE:MO), British American Tobacco PLC (NYSE:BTI), and fast food and beverage companies such as McDonald's Corp. (NYSE:MCD), Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE:KO), PepsiCo Inc. (NASDAQ:PEP), Monster Beverage Corp. (NASDAQ:MNST), Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ:SBUX), and Yum Brands Inc. (NYSE:YUM).

Saphier has also agreed to divest from major pharmaceutical and healthcare names, technology giants, energy companies, and some of her stakes in Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM), Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT), and Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE).

Dr. Saphier's confirmation hearing before the Senate is set for Sept. 16.
