The writer began their journey in the Business Lounge Ashgabat, which they previously reviewed as one of the strangest airports they've transited. Boarding for the 3hr5min flight started 10 minutes behind schedule, with business class passengers invited to board first.

The 737's cabin consisted of four rows in a 2-2 configuration, with seats similar to domestic first class within the United States but with slightly better pitch. The writer was assigned seat 4A, the window seat on the left in the last row.
