Twitch Streamer Sues Amazon Over Alleged AI Training Data Use

Twitch streamer Warren Pandiscia has filed a lawsuit against Amazon and Twitch, alleging that they used his streams to develop AI products without permission or paying licensing fees.

The alleged data collection took place for at least two years before Twitch updated its terms of service to address AI data use and introduced an opt-out option for creators. According to the complaint, former Twitch Chief Monetization Officer Mike Minton previously stated that video data had been used 'in a prototyping capacity.'

Pandiscia claims Amazon accessed Twitch streams and videos to utilize them as a massive dataset necessary to fuel Amazon's AI products. The lawsuit raises questions about how platforms use uploaded content, platform terms, copyright, and data rights.
