Tyson Foods Aims to Capture Asian Poultry Growth with Southeast Expansion
Tyson Foods is intensifying its expansion into Southeast Asia under new CEO Jeff Schomburger. The company is particularly targeting Thailand and Malaysia as key growth markets, driven by the region's expected poultry growth over the next decade.
Schomburger brings international business experience from his previous role as global sales officer at Procter & Gamble. He said the company has traditionally focused on Asia, 'and particularly Southeast Asia,' adding that Tyson Foods still likes those markets.
With the vast majority of poultry growth projected to come from Asian markets over the next decade, Schomburger emphasized the region's strategic importance for the company. He noted that Tyson's business in Asia is currently stable and predictable, but expanding its footprint there is being examined.
