U.S. Army Awards Boeing Sole-Source Contract for Up to 12 New Apache Helicopters
The U.S. Army plans to purchase up to 12 new AH-64E Apache helicopters from Boeing, with a notice published on August 4, 2026, announcing its intent to award a sole-source contract.
Boeing is the sole designer, developer, manufacturer, and systems integrator of the Apache aircraft, making it the only realistic source for the production of new AH-64E helicopters.
The Army's requirement calls for a 53-month effort, folded into an existing contract with Boeing, to remanufacture up to 12 Apache aircraft and address obsolescence in critical electronic components.
