The U.S. Treasury has launched a new Quantum-Readiness Task Force to help the financial sector prepare for cybersecurity risks that could emerge as quantum computing becomes more powerful.

The public-private initiative will focus on moving banks, financial-market infrastructure providers, and other financial institutions toward post-quantum cryptography (PQC).

This shift could put a spotlight on technology companies already developing quantum-safe security tools, including International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), Microsoft Corporation (MSFT), and Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL). IBM has developed quantum-safe cryptography and migration tools, while Microsoft and Google are moving parts of their platforms toward PQC.
